Hillsboro School is a K-8 school located in the quaint village of Leiper’s Fork, about ten minutes or so from Westhaven. Like Pearre Creek, the school plays an active role in its community. As an institution, it recently turned 100, although the building was updated significantly in the early eighties. And as of this year, the school is in another period of positive transition and growth.
A $2.1 Million expansion plan includes six classrooms added last summer, followed by a full-scale performance auditorium later in the year. Hillsboro is known for its musically gifted students, with kids graduating on to schools such as Berklee College of Music. And it’s no wonder, with parents and neighbors writing hit songs for some of the biggest names in music, and starring in some of the biggest blockbusters on the silver screen – it’s easy to see how the kids get into the act.
